Second Life is an incredibly boring “game”. And keep in mind when I say this, I’m not a gamer at all, so I can just imagine how boring Second Life must seem to hardcore action gamers. Not much happens in a sense. You end up walking around quite a bit, and the most agressive characters you’ll run into are the “landlords” who make up the game. Now in real life a landlord is one scary creature, but a game where you can’t even shoot them is bound to frustrate some.

Even “Entropia Universe” which is a predecessor to Second Life has many of the features of other MMORPGs. Now, my understanding is that there are a number of combat scenarios available to players in Second Life, but nothing that is clearly available for a casual player. This is no big deal to me, but I imagine it’s probably a big problem for many. Most people will probably not delve that deeply into the 3D creation tools, so they’ll be likely to “wander around”.

Once you’ve sat in one or two “camping chairs” you almost immediately try and think of better ways to get paid. What those ways are, aren’t always obvious. We’ll look into this issues in more details in coming posts.
