Webmaster Errors

Even careful webmasters make plenty of errors. I do my best to avoid errors, but I can’t. I find typos, mis-spellings and the like. All in all, it convinces me to try and be as thorough as I can the first time, because you may not revisit your work for awhile. If one of your errors is bad enough, it can really end up costing you in the long run. This is always the case with template driven sites.

The one reason I started using “Google Sitemaps” is because you can be alerted very quickly in the event of a catastrophic webmastering error. If your website is unreachable, or you have pages that can’t be found, you’ll find out the next time you log in. For that reason alone, I use the program. Imagine the trouble you can save yourself by finding out a website is “broken” earlier, rather than later.

I’m spending the next week looking around for any bugs I can find. These bugs have to be found, otherwise they’ll end up affecting something negatively in the long run. I’ll use whatever tools I can get my hands on for the job, and I’ll probably even roll my own.

If I can come up with any decent tools for spotting errors, I’ll post up.
